Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about BeanCraft accessory lines, community ratings, and ByWard Market services.
-
Is BeanCraft a restaurant, coffee franchise or food delivery service?
No. BeanCraft is exclusively a specialty brewing accessory shop. We do not operate restaurants, coffee franchises, food delivery services, prepared beverage outlets, or hospitality coaching programmes of any kind. Our business model centres on curating, community-rating, and dispatching brew gear — Chemex brewers, V60 drippers, burr grinders, precision scales, gooseneck kettles, AeroPress kits, and related bench tools — from our Ottawa ByWard Market studio at 55 ByWard Market Square, Suite 218. If you are seeking a dine-in café experience, meal delivery platform, franchise opportunity, or restaurant supply partnership, BeanCraft is not the appropriate destination. Our deliberate focus on accessory curation allows us to deliver deeper expertise in extraction workflow documentation, burr alignment maintenance, and Ottawa-relevant water chemistry testing than any broad hospitality brand could provide.
-
What accessory lines does BeanCraft carry?
Our 2026 catalogue includes six community-rated lines: Chemex (C$52–C$78), V60 (C$28–C$65), burr grinder (C$145–C$420), precision scale (C$45–C$195), gooseneck kettle (C$85–C$245), and AeroPress (C$48–C$95). Each line includes comparison sheets, community rating summaries, and indicative Canadian pricing before tax and shipping. Full specifications are published on our programs page.
-
How does the community rating process work?
Verified reviewers in the National Capital Region test accessories under documented brew protocols — fixed water chemistry at 150 ppm TDS, reference roast, calibrated kettle temperature, and standard dose ratios. Reviewers log drawdown time, total dissolved solids, extraction yield, durability after thirty days, and ergonomic notes. Approved submissions feed our public rating cards updated quarterly. Apply to become a reviewer through our contact form.
-
Do you sell roasted coffee or green beans?
No. BeanCraft sells brewing accessories only. We do not roast, package, or retail coffee beans of any kind. Our comparison sheets reference brew outcomes using community-supplied roasts during testing, but bean sales are outside our business scope entirely.
-
Can I visit the ByWard Market showroom?
Yes. Walk-in demos are available Mon–Sat 10:00–18:00 ET at 55 ByWard Market Square, Suite 218. For dedicated bench time with a gear specialist — especially when comparing grinders or variable-temperature kettles — book an appointment through our contact form. Demo sessions typically run thirty to forty-five minutes.
-
What are your shipping and dispatch timelines?
In-stock accessories dispatch within two business days from our ByWard Market fulfilment bench via tracked Canada Post. Ontario and Quebec deliveries typically arrive within three to five business days. National shipping is available on request with quoted transit times at checkout enquiry. Dispatch confirmations include serial numbers for warranty registration.
-
How does warranty support work?
Eligible grinder, kettle, and scale purchases include manufacturer warranty coverage logged at our warranty bench. Bring or ship your item to our ByWard Market studio with proof of purchase. Our technicians inspect against manufacturer specifications and coordinate repair or replacement. Out-of-warranty repairs receive quoted bench fees before work begins. Typical turnaround is five to ten business days.
-
How do I submit a product review question?
Use our contact form with subject "Product review question" to ask about rating methodology, request raw bench data for a specific SKU, or challenge a published score with your own documented brew protocol results. Our editorial team responds within three business days.
